Comet ISON – WHAT EXACTLY IS THE TRIBULATION?

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE TRIBULATION?

The word “tribulation” comes from the Greek word “thlipsis” which is the word used for “affliction” or “to suffer affliction.” The word “thlipsis” carries the idea of something compressed, trodden, crushed or the idea of “severe constriction, tightening, narrowing, or pressing together, as of grapes. In Latin, we have the word “tribulum”, which is the source of the English word “tribulation”. Tribulum refers to a threshing sledge, an instrument used in olden times to separate the husks from the corn. It speaks much of misfortune, suffering, pain, an ordeal, distress, trouble, problem, hardship, misery, or being in times of difficulty.

Having this biblical analysis, it is so clear that the coming of Christ should is not to take His saints into TRIBULATION. This gives us an opportunity to find out what the bible really means. The Bible speaks of common tribulations such as in these scriptures, Matt 13:21; John 16:33; Acts 14:22; 2 Cor 1:3. These are common trouble and difficulties of day to day happenings. They have no connection with the TRIBULATION PERIOD which Jesus was talking about in Matthew 24.

This TRIBULATION PERIOD describes a literal and a specific period of time that is still future, which must take place on earth after the (rapture) removal of the Church from the earth, at the coming of Christ for His saints whose names are written in the book of life and have kept their faith in Him. Let’s just take a look at this scripture;
Matthew 24:15-21
15 So when you see the appalling sacrilege [the abomination that astonishes and makes desolate], spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the Holy Place—let the reader take notice and ponder and consider and heed [this]—
16 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; 17 Let him who is on the housetop not come down and go into the house to take anything; 18 And let him who is in the field not turn back to get his overcoat. 19 And alas for the women who are pregnant and for those who have nursing babies in those days! 20 Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.
21 For then there will be great tribulation (affliction, distress, and oppression) such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now—no, and never will be [again].
I would like to comment on this scripture passage in three stages.

A.  VERSE 15; (Vision of the TRIBULATION PERIOD)
We are given a reference from Daniel 9:27;
I have put some words in the brackets for you to understand what and who was talking about. It is easy for others who have other versions of the bible to compare and to see the words I have put in brackets that they are also in their bibles. It is important to read the version which has the language you understand better.
Daniel 9:27; paraphrased reads, “And he (ANTICHRIST) shall enter into a strong and firm covenant with the many (ISRAELITES) for one week [SEVEN YEARS]. And in the midst of the week [SEVEN YEARS] he shall cause the sacrifice and offering to cease [FOR THE REMAINING THREE AND ONE-HALF YEARS]; pinnacle of abominations [shall come] one who makes desolate(ANTICHRIST DECLAIRING HIMSELF TO BE CHRIST), until the full determined end (END OF TRIBULATION PERIOD) is poured out on the desolator (ANTICHRIST).”

B.  VERSES 16-19; (Warning to the Jews)
Jesus was now talking about how difficult the time of TRIBULATION will be to the Jews who rejected him (John 1:11). They are going to get into tribulation through the deception of the Anti-Christ, thus having a covenant for one week (Dan. 9:27). It is a covenant of peace and they will take it because they have had no peace for a long time. To the Jews (who believe in the law of Moses), He advised them to pray so that the day should not come on the Sabbath day; because they are not allowed to travel a long distance. They have to run away for their safety because all who shall refuse to worship the Anti-Christ will be killed. Hence the call for everyone to run away. It will be a terrible time for those who are pregnant and those with suckling babies because you can’t run or go without food for some time. There are places which are clearly mentioned in the Bible which they will get their refuge.

C.   VERSE 21; (The real TRIBULATION PERIOD)
It is mainly called the time of JACOB’S TROUBLE because it has much to do with the Jews who did not believe in Christ Jesus.
Jeremiah 30:7 (KJV)
Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.

Whenever they rejected God by getting involved in idol worshipping or intermarriages, they went taken into captivity. One week will be seven years according to the history and this scripture as well.
Ezekiel 4:6
And when you have completed these, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side, and bear the punishment of the house of Judah. Forty days I assign you, a day for each year.

This is the sign of the changing of things from fake peace to TRIBULATION which Jesus was taking about.
Daniel 11:31 Expanded Bible (EXB)
“The king of the North will send his army [Forces from him will arise] to make the Temple in Jerusalem unclean [profane the Holy Place and fortress]. They will stop the people from offering the daily [regular] sacrifice, and then they will set up a blasphemous object that brings destruction (abomination of desolation; would be placed in the holy place; Matt. 24:15; Mark 13:14).

Daniel chapter 9 tells us that the TRIBULATION PEROID shall be one week. One week will be seven years according to the history (Ezek. 4:6). So half of the seven years is 1290 days which is equivalent to three and a half years according to the Jewish calendar.
Daniel 12:11 Expanded Bible (EXB)
“The daily [regular] sacrifice will be ·stopped [turned away]. Then, after 1,290 days from that time, a blasphemous object that brings destruction [the abomination of desolation] will be set up.

Conclusion:
COMIT-ISON has totally nothing to do with the tribulation period. It is one of those things which happens in the heavens just like some UFOs or ECLIPSE. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=sun+and+moon+eclipse&rlz=1C1CHFX_en-GBGB538GB538&espv=210&es_sm=93&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=IsF-UuDADqqO7AbuwICoDA&ved=0CFcQsAQ&biw=1680&bih=941
What comes first is the rapture then tribulation. Rapture is the one which will be like a thief at night not tribulation. The rapture will come before the time of Anti-Christ and tribulation is the time when the Anti-Christ will be ruling the world.
